Rice Krispie Chicks

Fun, tasty and easy seasonal activity to do with the kids before Easter! These are the perfect ratio of ooey gooey marshmallow with butter Rice Krispie cereal. These adorable no bake treats never last long at our house!

Okay, guys. I think I’ve finally perfected my Rice Krispie wrecipe. You add too much cereal and you end up with crunchy bars. You add to many marshmallows and they just fall apart. I need something in between. This is what I’ve come up with: 10oz mini marshmallows and 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal melted in 5 tbsp butter. Add in a splash of vanilla and viola! There you have it.

First, melt the butter with the marshmallows in 30 second intervals. Takes about 2 minutes total for it to melt perfectly. Then, add in the vanilla and a few drops of yellow food coloring and stir well.

Add the cereal in gradually until all of the Rice Krispies are coated evenly.

Pour the mixture until a greased 9 x 13 pan and pat down using a greased spatula so that it is even. Put in the fridge to chill for one hour.

Once chilled, use a biscuit cutter (or circular cookie cutter) to make shapes and set onto a plate. It’s time to decorate! Dot each candy eyeball with orange frosting and place onto circle. Using a small tip, draw the beak and their little chicken talons.
