This is the closest I will ever come to a sloppy Joe. Sweet, spicy flavors with a hint of your favorite BBQ sauce all piled high on a buttery bun. A fun twist on a summer classic.
I have had a serious phobia of ketchup since I was a small child. This has led me to a serious dislike of traditional sloppy joes. Like I said above, this recipe is the closest I will EVER come to a traditional sloppy Joe.
This is such an easy, weeknight dinner. The process takes about 15-20 minutes. This is a cheater version of Korean beef bulgogi.
Korean BBQ Beef Sammies
This is the closest I will ever come to a sloppy Joe. Sweet, spicy flavors with a hint of your favorite BBQ sauce all piled high on a buttery bun. A fun twist on a summer classic.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (lean)
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp fresh grated ginger
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 1/2 cup hoisin
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
- 1/2 tsp sriracha
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 4 brioche buns
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the beef, breaking it apart into large crumbles. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Add the remaining ingredients and continue cooking over low-medium heat until sauce becomes thicker and "sloppy."
- Toast the buns and spoon mixture over. Top with green onions. Serve warm. Enjoy!
