Sausage Ravioli Lasagna

A perfect meal for a busy family like ours. This tasty recipe includes a handful of pantry staples. Can be made ahead, refrigerated OR froze!

This quick recipe includes a few of my favorites: CHEESE, sausage and PLENTY of garlic. I made this recipe pretty basic and plain for our family due to picky eaters. However, feel free to throw in some additional vegetables (spinach, mushrooms). Also, there is a large variety of Ravioli types. Feel free to experiment!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 lb italian sausage
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • salt & pepper
  • 24 oz marinara (divided)
  • 18 oz bag of uncooked cheese ravioli
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated parmesan
  • fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Add olive oil and onion to a skillet over medium heat. Saute for 5 minutes. Add in the sausage and garlic and continue cooking until browned and cooked through. Spoon out any excess fat and discard. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Add 2 cups of the marinara sauce to the cooked sausage mixture. Stir well.
  4. Pour the remaining marinara into the base of a greased 9 x 13 casserole dish and spread it evenly on the bottom.
  5. Add half the ravioli over the marinara. Then add half the sausage mixture covered by half the cheeses. Repeat this process and use the remaining cheeses to top.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Take the foil off and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned. Garnish with fresh basil. Enjoy!
