Ingredients

Dough:

  • tsp dry active yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, lukewarm
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups AP flour

Filling:

  • 1 cup PACKED brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

Maple Cream Cheese Glaze:

  • 3 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1-2 tbsp heavy cream

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the yeast and lukewarm milk. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, until frothy.
  • In the bowl of your stand mixer fitted with paddle, beat together sugar, butter, salt, eggs and flour. Replace the paddle attachment with hook. Gradually pour in the yeast/milk mixture and knead with hook for 5-7 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Transfer to a greased bowl and let rise for one hour in a warm place. Cover with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel.
  • While your dough rises, beat together the brown sugar, cinnamon and butter. Set aside.
  • Grease your 12-inch cast iron skillet with shortening or butter. Make sure to coat the sides, edges and bottom.
  • After the dough has doubled in size, roll into a large rectangle using your rolling pin. Using a spatula, spread the brown sugar mixture over the dough. Then, cut dough into 2-inch strips. Roll the first strip as though you are going to make one cinnamon roll. Place in the center of your cast iron skillet. From there, take each remaining strip and wrap around until complete. Cover with towel and let rise again in a warm place, about 30-60 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and let cook for approximately 30 minutes or until golden. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before pour the glaze.
  • GLAZE: Whisk the cream cheese, syrup and 1 tbsp heavy cream in the bowel of your stand mixer until incorporated. You mad add extra cream if you need to thin the consistency. Enjoy!
